Components of a Computer Based Overheat Detection System
The items shown below are required for overheat detection monitoring, when a computer or PLC is used for data loging, data display or alarm activation.
To see results from an actual computer based application see FTLD in action.
FTLD Sensor |
Xco's FTLD sensor is the key component to any loss prevention system. FTLD will detect the highest temperature existing anywhere along its entire length, providing the earliest possible warning of abnormally high temperature excursions.
There is no power required for the sensor to function. |
The FTLD is wired to a field mounted junction box via screened extension cable. The mV signal from each end of the FTLD circuit is paralleled in the junction box and carried to the Terminal Block by multi-pair T/C instrument cable.
There is no power required at the junction box. |
Junction Box |
Terminal Block |
The National Instruments Terminal Block (TBX-68T)connects the signal from the FTLD to the Data Acquisition Card via RS 485 digital communications.
There is no power required at the Terminal Block. |
The National Instruments Data Acquisition Card (DAQPad-4350) interprets the signal generated by the FTLD and passes this information along to the computer via a USB port (other connection types also available).
The Data Acquisition Card is powered via the USB port. |
